Writers
Love Fest seeks writers and authors to share their poetry, prose, scripts, music, and book selections that are love and romance-themed. This includes self-love. Authors with published books may also choose our vendor option and sell books at Love Fest.
Verses of the Heart is a unique and entertaining experience open to Love Fest pass holders to enjoy an afternoon of versed entertainment. We’re spicing it up for you and our audience. Share the stage with other creative writers and be sure to have someone snapping pictures and taking video, because you’ll want them!
Types of Writing
Writers can share poetry, original music (must have your original lyrics and music you have full rights to use in performance), romance authors, playwrights, or other writers sharing writing with themes of love or romance.
- Poetry: Original poems exploring themes of love, romance, and self-love.
- Prose: Short stories, excerpts, or essays with a romantic focus.
- Scripts: Scenes or monologues from plays or screenplays centered on love.
- Music: Songs or musical pieces with romantic lyrics or themes.
We encourage submissions with themes of romantic love and self-love.
Requirements
DRESS REHEARSAL: All performing writers are required to attend a ‘dress rehearsal’ beginning at 11am (possibly later, but hold time) on Saturday, February 15th for a 3pm show.
Failure to attend this required dress rehearsal on time means you will not be able to have your work performed. There are no refunds for failure to attend dress rehearsal. Arriving more than 30 minutes is equivalent to not showing.
If you elect to or need to have someone else read your work, an additional rehearsal with talent may be required and will be scheduled.
LIVE SHOW: Saturday, February 15 from 3pm to 5pm (required)
Only submit if you can commit to being present for the dress rehearsal and the live performance.
Because this is a performance and entertainment, writers are required to submit what they would like to perform along with a recording of you reading or reciting some of your work as part of submission. Because we seek a range of types of works, you may not be selected, if it is not a fit.

STANDARD

- 5-minute performance time
$20 refundable deposit
This deposit is to protect Love Fest from ‘no-shows’. If you come and perform, you will get your deposit back.
If you want us to provide a reader it is $35+ (non-refundable) and up depending on complexity.
Those writers selected to perform will submit fees to Love Fest.
